Warm summer evenings in Rome are filled with the exciting possibilities of "Estate Romana" – the three-month-long Roman Summer festival. Classical music, jazz and rock, film and theatre take place mainly at open-air venues throughout the city. Concerts are staged at archaeological sites and monuments. Church steps and piazzas provide a stage for all kinds of musical performances. City parks host entire music festivals and open-air screens are set up on the River Tiber Island and on the top of Gianicolo Hill, showing popular late night movies. Indeed much of Rome becomes a stage from June through to September. Theatrical performances take place in the ruins at Ostia Antica; the Baths of Caracalla become a classical music venue.
